What will 2021 bring us fashion-wise?
I looked through some of my favorite designers' Pre-Fall and Spring Ready-to-Wear 2021 fashion shows to see what trends will pop throughout the year.
What trends do you think will be popular?
Anyways, I can't wait to thrift and get some items that mirror what I saw on the runway!
1. Low-Rise Pants

The comeback of the low-rise pants is right around the corner. Previously, the higher the pants were, the better. But now, the low waist is everything. It's even better if some hips are revealed as seen in the Collina Strada look.
The runway introduced us to a new way of styling such slouchy pants. Wearing them with balloon-sleeved tops or sweater vests seems to be it.
2. Checkered Print

Thanks to The Queen's Gambit that was all the rage at the end of 2020, the main character, Beth Harmon, showed audience lovers that she was also ahead of another game: the fashion game. In the show she wore plaid and checkered clothing, which we'll see more of in 2021.

In one scene, Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon wears a checkered-print dress over a button-down that is effortlessly chic. In another, she wears a pink and white checkered coat that is a twist on the typical black and white print.
The runway featured similar checkered looks that ranged from chic to refreshingly cool. Dolce & Gabbana
had models strut in the typical black and white checkered print, whereas other designers made the print uniquely their own. Kiko Kostadinov designed a muted sea-green checkered trench coat that I want for the Sacramento spring showers. Raf Simons also took a different turn and created a look with a swirling psychedelic-printed skirt and an edgy shirt on top of a pink-checkered long-sleeve. I love how the pink print stands out, making it a fun way to incorporate color.
3. Voluminous Floral Patterned Clothing

Florals and patterns aren't new to the runway. I can't wait to stock up on dresses and skirts with large floral prints.
Wear floral prints with colors, like baby blue, in the spring and summer and then a bold cottagecore-esque dress in the fall!
4. Colors: Pink, Green, Yellow

Looking like a sugary candy treat is at the forefront of this year's trends.
The more colorful your outfit is, the better. Color-blocking with vibrant shades of pink, green, and yellow is the ultimate formula for 2021.
If I'm going back to work in the fall, I will for sure show up to the office in this pink MM6 Maison Margiela suit.
5. Mini-Skirts

Ahh, the mini-skirt is back! I remember a few years ago, the denim mini-skirt was all the rage.
Well, the mini-skirt is here in full force! Wear one with a matching blazer to fall in line with the office wear trend, or wear a checkered mini-skirt to stand out!
6. Cutouts

I found this trend the most striking out of everything I mentioned so far.
I love how cutouts in clothing add a mysterious sexy flair to a look.
Why not add an avant-garde edge to any outfit? I enjoyed seeing designers' interpretations of this trend. Collina Strada added cutouts to a silky pink dress, whereas Jil Sander added a modern twist to a knee-length turtleneck.
Which of these trends will you follow in 2021?
