7 Outfits to Try for Fall

As soon as Pumpkin Spice Lattes fill up your Instagram screen, you know what season it is. It's fall, baby! The best thing about fall isn't just the warm spicy cinnamon flavor hitting your tastebuds making you forget what sweet summer tasted like, but the clothes.

It's the time to experiment with new colors, fun sweaters, and layering such colors/sweaters, even jackets if you're feeling it (I would've suggested coats, but climate change isn't making that possible just yet). Anyways, here are some fun outfits for you to try, so you can pick up your Pumpkin Spice Latte in style.

1. Your Summer Dress as a Fall Dress

JW Anderson x Uniqlo dress, Casucci jacket, Giorgio Armani shoes, Nordstrom turban, sunglasses from The Getty

Just because it's fall, doesn't mean you can't rock your favorite summer dress. I love this dress because it's airy, making it perfect for those early weeks of fall when your body temperature is finally adjusting to those brisk mornings, but your mind is still in summer mode. Throw on a hefty denim jacket with a scarf in case you get chilly, add socks with your shoes because it's not that freezing yet, put on a sparkly turban to fight the surprising gusty wind then go to a coffee shop. In case the sun decides to laugh at you for coming extra prepared and layered up, put on your cat-eye sunnies and laugh back at it.

2. Your Puff-Sleeve Trendy Top that's Here to Stay

Nordstrom top, Carhartt pants, Nordstrom hat, Giorgio Armani shoes

Oh, wondering what to do with that puff-sleeve top you bought on a whim because it was so trendy in spring 2019? Have no fear! Take that statement piece out of your closet and pair it with black jeans and a floppy felt green hat. This should keep you warm enough while you go on hayrides at your local pumpkin patch.

3. Your Cozy Sweater as a Complement to your Fiesty Skirt

Ralph Lauren sweater, Zara skirt, J.Crew necklace, Converse shoes

Tired of basic sweaters? Have no fear! Here's a midi cheetah skirt with a soft red sweater that'll keep you so warm and cozy, you won't even need to layer with it. The Converse show you're down for a casual night in to watch ABC Family's 13 Nights of Halloween, but the addition of the sparkly chunky necklace says you're also ready to go out for some spiced cider.

4. Your Oversized Blazer over a Casual Overall Dress that's OVERALL Very Comfy

Thrifted blazer, H&M overall dress, Nordstrom Rack top, Doc Martens boots

Sorry for the overuse of puns, but I couldn't help myself. Here, I'm wearing an oversized double-breasted blazer with a matching brown overall dress. For a pop of color, I wore a casual pink velvet top. This outfit plays with texture, combining tweed, corduroy, and velvet for an overall very fall look (oops, again with the "overall" -- I'M SORRY). Fall=layering, mixing, and playing with both!

5. Your "I'm So Ready for Winter" Look

Uniqlo t-shirt, thrifted long-sleeved top, thrifted trousers, Doc Martens boots

If you're the type wanting to skip fall altogether and move on to winter, this look is for you. Embrace those winter blues with Patti Smith's energy by wearing a white tee, an oversized velvet button-down, and black flared trousers. Put on your trusty boots that were made for walkin' and stomp through the streets with your "Rock Anthems" playlist.

6. Your One-Piece Outfit for Flânerie

& Other Stories jumpsuit, The New Yorker tote, Converse x JW Anderson sneakers

Having one of those lazy days when you just want to walk idly through the city streets without any guilt and enjoy the scenery? Well, to truly embody this act of a flâneur aka a person being a stroller or idler, I recommend throwing on a jumpsuit.

This one is a lovely light green that reminds me of leaves turning after summer's end. To stroll mindlessly without the fear of tiring your feet, put on some fun sneakers and take on the town!

7. Your Denim Skirt as a Replacement for your Everyday Denim Jeans

Rachel Roy blazer, Zara top, Marshall's skirt, Doc Martens shoes, Rebecca Minkoff purse

Still refusing to wear pants? Here's a mini denim skirt giving you fall denim jean vibes. Pair it with a slouchy blazer for dimension and a sparkly top that magically matches your bag and shoes. I love this look despite the absence of neutral tones because the blazer and shoes tailor the outfit into a fall look I'll definitely wear (and repeat) a few times.
