Transitional Cotton Candy Outfits

Summer is over and regardless of my love for fall, it's saddening when my favorite color pink is brushed under the rug, while fall neutrals take over. Don't get me wrong—I love neutral colors, but because dressing up is my mood-booster, colors, like beige and gray, just aren't enough for me.

I took this as a mini-challenge and created four looks with my favorite summery pink linen pants:

They were custom-made for me and inspired by this fabulous pair originally designed by Vika Gazinskaya. As someone who loves a wide-legged fit for extra comfort, these pants are everything (similar here). With summer over, I wasn't sure I'd wear them because they don't fit the classic outfit formula for fall, but who doesn't want to savor sweet summer for a little longer?

I hope you get some inspiration and will retrieve your favorite summer clothing item that you tucked far away in your closet to create some transitional fall fits with it!

Pants (similar), French Connection crop top, Banana Republic trench coat (similar), Dr. Martens oxfords (similar), Dolce & Gabbana earrings (try these), Prada sunglasses (try these), Longchamp bag.

It's 9:10 a.m. and I woke up to a text from a friend who is in my area and wants to grab a coffee. I peek outside and the weather is still nice, but the leaves on my tree are rustling like there's no tomorrow. Because we'll be sitting outside, I threw on a trench coat over a crop top.

Now, let me address what you might be thinking. A crop top, just like my pink pants, seems very summery, but the crop top's neutral tones pair well with the blush pink pants and matching bag. Plus, there are minuscule flowers on my top and their orange color gives me the perfect amount of fall vibes.

It's 9:30 a.m. now and I'm out the door, rushing to put on my gold oxfords, which I've had for ages. I almost left the house without my polaroid, which I tossed in my large tote bag, since commemorating quick and spontaneous coffee hangouts are very important to me during these dire times.

Pants (similar), French Connection top, Dr. Martens oxfords (similar), pink blazer (similar), gifted earrings (try these), Louise et Cie purse (try this).

So, I've been dilly-dallying on online dating apps, dipping my toe into this weird digital vestibule that sucks up my time, since every man on there looks the same. Maybe the algorithm is cursed, but I've been swiping left on the same men: fishermen, men that still use Snapchat, and the occasional golfer.

Since then, I've kissed those apps goodbye because I know I won't be going on a socially-distanced date any time soon. But, if by some algorithmic miracle I found myself connecting to someone and we were to meet IRL, I would wear something that makes me feel comfortable and cute.

Because we'd be dining outside in the crisp Sactown weather, I'd wear a blazer, which provides a balanced combination of trying, but also not really trying. I still want to look put-together, but casual enough that my date thinks I literally threw my outfit together. I'd wear a subtly flirtatious piece, like a soft lace crop top that adds some elegance to the overall look. For the purse, I'd opt for a small shoulder bag that easily fits my essentials: phone, mask, hand sanitizer, and a cardholder. Not going to lie, writing about this look made me want to take myself out and sit outside a wine bar because why not?

Pink pants (similar), Volcom top (similar), J.Crew earrings (similar), cheetah scrunchie (similar).

It's the early morning and I'm barely getting up. In about 30 minutes I have to hop on a Zoom call because working from home is the new normal. Without thinking too hard, I reach for my pink linen pants, which basically feel like pajamas. Yeah, I know the bottom half of my body won't show on the camera, but they make sitting at my desk all day a bit more fun. I slip into my fuzzy slippers, which at least give me some feeling of professionalism since I'm usually barefoot all day. I put on a cheetah top that kind of looks fancy, but it sure as hell isn't because it doesn't require ironing.

I pull my hair back in a low bun and put on cheetah earrings that match my top. I open up my laptop and smile at the screen with coffee in hand about to come up with something to say for my meeting's icebreaker. Maybe I'll tell my coworkers about how I came up with this look while rolling out of bed.

Pink pants (similar), oxfords (similar), Nordstrom top (similar), J.Crew headband (similar), J.Crew earrings (try these).

It's October, yet the Sacramento weather is still in flux. The mornings are nice and cool, but by noon you're running for cover underneath some shade. Sacramentans love going to Apple Hill to catch fall colors, pick some apples, and enjoy apple cider donuts with some hot cider.

For such a fun fall activity, I'd wear a breathable long-sleeved top, so I won't be too cold or hot. Puffy sleeves are trending now and this top wouldn't disappoint you because the sleeves are so billowy and free. For accessories, I'd keep it simple with bowed earrings and an emerald green headband to keep flyaway hair at bay.

Do you have a favorite summer piece that you're excited to re-vamp for fall? Meet me in the comments section with some cider and chatty conversation!
